May 24, 2016: SOAP #2364: 1Kings 9; 2Chronicles 8; Psalm 136; Romans 5
Scripture: Psalm (NIV) 136:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever. … 23 to the One who remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever.
Observation: God may overlook the proud and haughty—those who think they can live successfully in their own wisdom and power. But humility attracts God’s attention. It is like a God magnet. He loves to use His power on behalf of those who have no power of their own. For then all will see that what is accomplished could have only been accomplished by God!
Application: My estate was low in that I was lost in sin. Yet He did not overlook me. My estate was low in that I could not save myself. Yet He thought of me. My estate was low in that I saw no value in myself. Yet He saw value in that I could become His child. My estate was low in that I had no power or knowledge to accomplish anything of value. Yet He saw what His Holy Spirit could accomplish through me.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, please remind me that being in a low estate is always the best place to begin every day and every task. Amen
