What’s mine is His!

March 4, 2017: SOAP #2648:  Numbers 34-36; Mark 11

Scripture:  Mark (NIV) 11:1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no-one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.  3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”  4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”  6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.

Observation:   It would seem unnatural for someone not to ask why they were taking colt.  Perhaps it was the owner who asked why they were untying the colt?  That Jesus simple answer satisfied them might indicate that they were familiar with the Lord.  Jesus had been in this area previously in His ministry.  Perhaps someone in their family had been healed.

Application:  I want to know the Lord well enough to quickly respond to any request He makes of me.  If the Lord needs something in my possession, it is His, for me to do with as He desires.

Prayer:   Lord, how can I call you Lord if I do not take this attitude. My life is Yours.  My possessions are Yours.  My time is Yours. My talents are Yours.  Use me as You desire.  Amen
