Fearing and Forgetting

July 27, 2015: SOAP #2062

Scripture: Isaiah (NIV) 51:12 I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who ae you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass,
13 that you forget the LORD your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth…

Observation: God was speaking through the prophet Isaiah to the nation of Israel. How illogical it is to fear men who are as temporary as grass yet forget the one who made the heaven and the earth! Duh! If they should fear anyone, it should be the Creator. If they should forget anyone, it should be those who are like grass.

Application: It is all too easy to be concerned about what I can see and touch while at the same time forgetting about what I cannot see and touch. I must discipline my thoughts to be governed by the truth I know in my spirit rather than by the things I see with my five senses.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me keep my priorities in logical sequence. Amen
