January 21: Exodus 1-2; Psalm 88; Luke 21
He’s watching me too!
Scripture: Luke (NIV) 21:1 As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury.
2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.
3 "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
Observation: Is giving important? Jesus was at the temple, took note of what people were giving, and made comment. His comments are interesting to me, but what caught my attention this time was just the fact that He was watching the people as they gave.
Application: Obviously, He watches my giving too. My giving is important to Him. The next time I give an offering, although I am not giving for people to see, I do need to remember that He sees the gift; He sees my heart; and He sees what is left.
Prayer: Lord, You are the greatest giver of all! Let the truth that You live in me be seen in my giving. Amen.
