Pleasing God

April 16: 1Samuel 18; 1Chronicles 6; Psalm 11; Matthew 3

Pleasing God

Scripture: Matthew 3: 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.
17 And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Observation: I hear God the Father saying, “Here is my Son. I love my Son. My Son pleases me.”

Application: To live a life, or a year, or a month pleasing to God, I must live days pleasing to God. Days are filled with hours, minutes, and seconds. Seconds and minutes are the starting place for pleasing God. I can please God a second at a time.

A beautiful oil painting is made up of many brush strokes. One at a time each brush stroke is placed purposefully until the painting is finished. I should consider each day a painting I am making to please the Lord. Each second and each minute are brush strokes in a painting I will present to the Lord at the close of the day.

Prayer: Lord, if my days please you, then my life will please you. I want to live each day to bring joy to your heart and a smile to your face. Amen.
