April 27: 2Samuel 2; 1Chronicles 11; Psalm 142; Matthew 14
Passing along God’s Word
Scripture: Matthew 14: 19 And he directed the people (5,000+) to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
Observation: The disciples need to be careful that they handle the bread and fish appropriately and not carelessly. It had come from the Master’s hands. It carried the Master’s blessings. It must be carried and served with respect. It is the life of the people. It will satisfy the hunger of the little child. It will fill the poor who has not eaten for days.
Application: I carry the Word of God in my life. People can “read” God’s Word in me as I live my life. I need to carry the Word of God with respect. It is not my word; it is God’s Word! It can help every need of every person around me.
Prayer: Lord, help me to do nothing that would distract from Your Word. May it be easy for people to see Your Word lived out in my life. Amen.
